Sloka: 1.

Paashanda drumashanda daava dahanas chaarvaakashailaashani

Bouddhadhwaanta niraasa vaasarapati jainebha kanteeravah|

Maayaavaadi bhujanga bhanga garudastraividya choodamani

Srirangesha jayadhwajo vijayate ramanujo ayam munih || One ||

 

 

Paashanda drumashanda daava dahana He  is, no less  than  a forest-conflagration to the multitude  of  the  trees   in  the  form of  heretics (paashandas);
Chaarvaakashailaashani none  other  than  the  thunderbolt  to  the  hills of Atheists;
Bouddhadhwaanta niraasa vaasarapatihi not different from the sun that dispels the darkness of the Bouddhas
Jainebha kantheeravah the Lion that does away with the mammoths called the Jains
Maayaavaadi bhujanga bhanga garuda the King of Birds, Garuda, that dispenses  with the serpents called Maayavaadis, i.e. those who argue that  the  whole  universe  is  unreal  like  an object produced by mesmerism.
Traividya choodamani the  crown  of  gems  that  adorns the head of  the Vedas (and Upanishads).
Srirangesha jayadhwajah the flag of victory of the Lord of Sri Rangam
Vijayate Ramanujo ayam munih such is the holy sage Ramanuja. May He flourish undaunted forever.

Sloka: 2.

Paashanda shanda giri khandana vajra dandaah

Prachchanna bouddha makaraalaya mantha dandaah|

Vedaanta saara sukha darshana deepa dandaa

Ramanujasya vilasanti munestridandaah || Two ||

 

 

Paashanda shanda giri khandana vajra dandaah They are; The ‘Vajraayudha’ weapons for cutting down the hills of the multitudes of paashandas or heretics.
Prachchanna bouddha makaraalaya mantha dandaah they are now, the churning rods for the abode of whales  i.e. the  ocean of the disguised bouddhas (i.e. the maayavaadis)
Vedaanta saara sukha darshana deepa dandaa they are now, the tight poles that show clearly the essence of  the Upanishads or Vedantas
Ramanujasya vilasanti munestridandaah such are the unified three Dandas i.e. Triple Staffs of    Bhagavad  Ramanuja. They  shine  forth  thus brilliantly and eternally.

Chaaritroddhaaradandam chatura naya pathaalankriyaa ketudandam

Sadvidyaa deepadandam sakala kalikathaa samhriteh kaaladandam|

Trayyanta aalambadandam tribhuvana vijaya chchatra souvarna dandam

Dhatte ramanujaaryah pratikathaka shiro vajradandam tridandam || Three ||  

 

Chaaritroddhaaradandam chatura naya patha alankriyaa ketudandam

It is the staff that uplifts the character of embodied souls; and the flag staff that adorns the path of intelligent logic
Sadvidvyaa deepadandam sakala kalikathaa samhriteh kaaladandam It   is  the  lamp staff for bringing divine learning to light;  and  the  ‘mrityudanda’ or ‘death-wand’ for finishing all the havoc played by Kali
Trayyanta aalambadandam tribhuvana vijaya chchatra souvarna dandam It is the supporting staff or pillar for the science of Vedanta and the gold staff for the holding up the umbrella of victory over the three worlds
Dhatte ramanujaryah pratikathaka shiro vajradandam tridandam such a marvelous staff triplet, Bhagavad Ramanuja holds,  indicating   that   it   would   act   as    the Vajradanda   i.e.  The    Vajraayudha   Rod   for breaking   the   head   of   counter   arguers   (i.e. opposers of the path of genuine truths).

Trayyaa maangalyasootram triyugayugapadhaarohana aalambasootram

Sadvidyaa deepasootram saguna nayavidaam sambudaam haarasootram|

Prajnaasootram budhaanaam prashama dhana manah padminee naalasootram

Rakshaasootram muneenaam jayati yatipater vakshasi brahmasootram || Four ||  

 

Trayyaa maangalyasootram triyugayugapadhaarohana aalambasootram The   auspicious   thread   around   the   neck  of Srutibhagavatee; the string of support for climbing the    path    of    the    twelve    Deities   i.e.   the Archiraadimaarga
Sadvidyaa deepasootram saguna nayavidaam sambudaam haarasootram The string by which the lamp of divine learning is held;  The  gold  chain decorating  the neck of the goddess of elegance possessed by classic logicians
Prajnaasootram budhaanaam prasama dhana manah padminee naalasootram The  string of  wisdom  for  enlightened    people;

The string forming the stalk of the lotus of the mind of   persons possessing prasama as their lamp i.e. peacefulness and calm as their treasure

Rakshaasootram muneenaam; jayati yatipater vakshasi brahmasootram The  formula  of  protection  of  sages; such is the Brahmasootram that flourishes on the sacred chest of YATIPATI i.e. Sri Bhagavad Ramanuja.

Paashanda saagara mahaa badabaa mukhaagnih

Srirangaraaja charanaambuja moola daasah|

Srivishnuloka manimantapa maarga daayee

Ramanujo vijayate yatiraja rajah || Five ||

 

 

Paashanda saagara mahaa badabaa mukhaagnih The   heretics   constitute  an ocean. Bhagavad Ramanuja is the Badabagni that consumes that ocean.
Srirangaraaja charanaambuja moola daasah  To   the   Lotus   Feet  of Sri Rangaraja Sri Ramanuja  is  the  original  servant (because  the former  is  Sriman  Narayana  and  the latter is Aadisesha).
Srivishnuloka manimantapa maarga daayee To go to gem studded Hall (Manimantapa) of Sri Mahavishnu in Vaikuntam Sri Ramanuja is our leader. He leads us all on the way.
Ramanujo vijayate yatiraaja rajah May that Ramanuja flourish victoriously being the Supreme emperor of all Yatisreshtas.
